MAW Clinic treatment room for acupuncture appointments near Blackpool

Is acupuncture suitable for back pain?

Acupuncture may support pain management and muscle tension for some people with back pain. Your suitability depends on your symptoms, health history, current medication, previous injuries and treatment goals.

New weakness, numbness, bladder or bowel changes, trauma, fever or severe worsening pain should be medically assessed urgently.

What happens at a first acupuncture appointment?

Your first appointment includes a conversation about what has brought you to clinic, a review of relevant medical history, safety screening, consent and treatment where appropriate.

Maxine will explain the approach before treatment starts and will check your comfort throughout.

Is acupuncture safe?

At MAW Clinic, acupuncture is delivered by a Registered Nurse and Medical Acupuncturist using fine, single-use sterile needles. Treatment is adapted around your comfort and suitability.

Like any treatment, acupuncture is not suitable for everyone. That is why consultation and screening are part of the appointment.

How many sessions might someone need?

This varies. Some people book a short course; others review progress session by session. Results are not promised, and the plan can change depending on your response.

Can acupuncture support stress and wellbeing?

Some people seek acupuncture for stress-related physical tension, sleep disturbance and wellbeing support. It may be used as part of a wider wellbeing approach, but it does not replace mental health care or urgent support.

Can acupuncture be used alongside GP care or physiotherapy?

For some people, acupuncture can sit alongside GP care, physiotherapy, rehabilitation advice or a wider pain-management plan. It should not delay medical assessment or replace prescribed care.

What symptoms do people commonly seek acupuncture for?

People often seek acupuncture for back, neck and shoulder discomfort, muscle tension, headaches, stress-related tension, sleep concerns, sports-related overload and general wellbeing support.
